About the Project

The construction of the coastal loading dock at Enmedio Island involves the installation of 280 piles with a diameter of 1.2 meters and an average depth of 19.5 meters, using lost metal ademes to facilitate cleaning, placement of reinforcement and concrete. In addition, the installation of 400 meters of combined wall is contemplated, consisting of sheet piles type AZ of 23.4 meters and HZ of 29.4 meters in length.

Our Client’s Challenge

The client faced several challenges during the execution of the project:

Reduced execution time to complete the work.
Existence of a main access for vehicles that crossed the project, which caused delays due to its relocation until the completion of the work.
Complicated ground with slag fills, dredged material and gravels.
High water table due to the proximity to the sea and a lagoon.

Our Approach And Solution

A driving and extraction test was carried out to determine the feasibility of using 21-meter-long recoverable admeasurements for the execution of the piles. This test resulted in the client's authorization for a new procedure, which allowed for significant savings in lost admeasurements. The main obstacle in the execution of the piles was the underpressure of the ground.
